CANCER PREVENTION:

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and the Women’s Cancer Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is joining with the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation to educate women about familial breast-ovarian cancer syndrome. Women with this syndrome have a 90 percent risk of developing breast and/or ovarian cancer during their lifetime.

It is recommended that during September women take the time to learn their family history of gynecologic cancer and make an appointment for their annual gynecologic exam and screening. An online risk assessment can be done at www.wcn.org.
