Man Prevented From Jumping Onto 10 Freeway

Santa Monica fire and police prevent possible death by suicide Saturday

By Sam Catanzaro

Over the weekend a man was prevented from jumping off a sign onto the 10 freeway in Santa Monica.

On Saturday morning, westbound traffic was stopped on the 10 Freeway as a man was standing on an off-ramp sign at the Lincoln Boulevard overpass.

The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) and the Santa Monica Fire Department (SMFD) responded to the scene and managed to convince the potential jumper into climbing back over the fence to safety.

The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Last year the SMPD prevented a man from jumping onto the freeway at the 4th Street overpass.
