Syd Straw & The People, December 8, 8pm

After having put herself on the map via her stint with the Golden Palominos, singer/songwriter/guitarist Syd Straw went on to release the terrific 1996 effort, Surprise. Since then, she’s done more solo recording in addition to lending her talents on outings by artists such as Evan Dando, Vic Chestnut and Rickie Lee Jones. She is a multi-genre talent who can deliver on so many levels. Her stylings range from country to folk to jangle pop to alternative.

LACO Mozart Festival, December 10, 7pm

Come celebrate Amadeus’ 250th birthday with one of the nation’s elite chamber ensembles. On this evening, Director Jeffrey Kahane and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra will perform No. 16 in D major, No. 18 in B-flat major and No. 25 in C major, all from Mozart Gold.

Note: this is a multi-evening event. Additional festival dates are February 18 and March 18 and require separate tickets.
