Randy’s Donuts is set to open a Santa Monica storefront with free glazed donuts later this month.
In a social media post, Randy’s Donuts announced it will open in Santa Monica on Tuesday, August 31 at 829 Wilshire Boulevard. The space used to house a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf location that closed at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the shop opens on August 31 at 6 a.m., patrons will receive a free glazed raised donut until noon. In addition, there will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., along with an unveiling of a 10 foot replica of Randy’s iconic giant donut.
The original Randy’s Donuts was founded in 1953 at 805 W Manchester Boulevard and has become a Los Angeles landmark in part due to the giant donut sitting atop the shop’s roof. Since then the company has opened locations across Southern California in addition to four shops in South Korea and one in Saudi Arabia.
The Santa Monica store will join a crowded donut scene on Wilshire Boulevard, with a Dunkin’ Donuts three blocks to the east and Sidecar Donuts two blocks to the west.
