Ex-Samohi Star Hits Grand Slam For UCLA:

Former Santa Monica High baseball star Cody Decker had the best day of his two years at UCLA Sunday, March 25, leading an improbable comeback in a non-conference 15-8 win over Pacific.

Decker, who once hit 14 home runs in a season for Samohi, hit a grand slam home run in the eighth inning at Jackie Robinson Stadium and ended the day with five RBI, his career best as a Bruin.

UCLA entered the eighth with an 8-1 deficit but scored 14 runs in the inning.

Decker, who played third base and was a catcher at Samohi, has yet to find his position at the collegiate level. He was moved to left field this season but has been in and out of the lineup. On Sunday he played first base. UCLA will begin conference play this weekend in a three-game series at Stanford.
