Chess Games Are Coming to Third Street Promenade

The Weekly Events Are Free and Open to the Public

Downtown Santa Monica Inc. is inviting chess players of all ages and levels to weekly casual competitions on the 1200 Block of Third Street Promenade. The plays are taking place on Sundays through Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants can meet new players while putting their skills to the test against multiple opponents. Chess boards will be provided, but players are welcome to bring their own sets and timers. The event, in partnership with the Santa Monica Chess Club, is free and open to the public. No sign-ups or advance registration is required.
