In a hypothetical scenario simulating an emergency response to an earthquake in the area, Santa Monica Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue and support agencies rescued injured people as well as life-sized dummies from the top of the Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier. Other agencies that would be involved in case of such an emergency – and also part of the drill – are the SMPD, SMPD Harbor Guards, SMPD staff, U.S. Coast Guard, Area “E” US&R Teams, S.E.T., Big Blue Bus, Bay Watch and L.A. County Sheriff Rescue. photo by Margaret Molloy
