Little Sista, Horny Toad
Friday, September 14, 8:30 p.m.
Rusty’s Surf Ranch, Santa Monica Pier, 310.393.pier
Former recipient of the “best urban pop R&B band” honor at the LA Music Awards, Little Sista has been playing across the local club scene since 1996. Comprised of five sisters, the band describes its sound as “rock and soul,” something that is more than readily apparent when perusing the tracks available online. Think of Tina Turner singing “Proud Mary” multiplied by five voices and you will get the idea. Also on the bill is Horny Toad, a Santa Monica – and Venice-based ska band that has opened for everyone from the Offspring to De La Soul to the late Desmond Dekker.
