Nuart Theatre, 11272 Santa Monica Blvd., WLA, 310.473.8530

French electronic duo Daft Punk is known for providing visual stimulation to accompany its house beats. From its now legendary, robot-heavy live show to the anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ercret 5tar 5ystem, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have a knack for captivating audiences. Although this project began as an offshoot of the music videos for “Robot Rock” and “Technologic,” which the duo also directed, Electroma is not a vehicle for Daft Punk’s music. Instead, this film tells the story of two robots’ attempt to become human and features music by Curtis Mayfield, Todd Rundgren, Brian Eno, and others.
