Districtwide Showcases Featuring Young Artists’ Best Work Take Center Stage
Middle and high school students from across the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will present their artistic talents at upcoming showcases celebrating visual arts education.
The Santa Monica Visual Arts Student Showcase is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts Art Gallery, located adjacent to Barnum Hall on the Santa Monica High School campus. The event will feature works by students from Santa Monica High School, John Adams Middle School, Lincoln Middle School, and SMASH (Santa Monica Alternative School House). Art on display will include drawings, paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and film.
The Malibu Visual Arts Student Showcase will follow the next evening on Thursday, April 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the PTSA Room at Malibu High School. Student artists from Malibu Middle and Malibu High School will exhibit works across a variety of media, including ceramics, photography, drawings, and more.
Both events are open to students, parents, and members of the community. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door to help support the visual arts programs at the participating schools.
