LAPD Seeks Additional Victims in Kidnapping and Sexual Assault Case

Detectives said they believe additional victims may exist due to the severity of the alleged assault. Police have released a photo of Lopes in hopes of identifying others

Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division–Stuart House are asking the public to help identify additional victims following the arrest of a man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor, police said.

David Josue Lopes, 37, also known as David Lopez, was taken into custody Nov. 6 in the Westlake area, according to police. Investigators identified Lopes as a suspect in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl in Hollywood. He was booked on suspicion of sexual assault under booking number 7122917.

The case is being investigated jointly by LAPD’s Juvenile Division–Stuart House Unit and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Sex Crime Unit. Detectives said they believe additional victims may exist due to the severity of the alleged assault. Police have released a photo of Lopes in hopes of identifying others who may have been harmed.
