Thanksgiving Turkey Trot to Help Rebuild Local YMCA in Pacific Palisades

Palisades Event Returns With New Course, Kids’ Run, and a Block Party

Thanksgiving morning will mark the return of a beloved community tradition as the Pacific Palisades Turkey Trot steps off for its 11th year, drawing thousands of runners and spectators in what will be the neighborhood’s first major public event since January’s wildfire.

Organizers say this year’s race carries added significance. Proceeds will support the Palisades–Malibu YMCA, which was destroyed in the fire and continues to rebuild. The Turkey Trot, first held in 2013, has long served as a holiday gathering point for families and residents.

The event begins at 8 a.m. Thursday, November 27, starting at the Palisades Village Green at 15280 Sunset Blvd. Participants can choose between 5K and 10K courses, both following a newly designed route. A kids’ race and a post-run block party will round out the morning’s festivities.

The Turkey Trot remains one of the most popular holiday activities in the country; more Americans run on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year, according to race organizers. Local officials and community groups hope this year’s event will offer a moment of unity and renewal after months of recovery efforts.
