Each 2.5-ounce bar packs ice cream with chunks and swirls, coated in chocolate and cookie pieces
Ben & Jerry’s will hand out free samples of its upcoming ice cream bars at a beachside event here Saturday, giving early tastes of the portable treats before they hit store freezers nationwide next month.
The Dec. 13 gathering from 1 to 5 p.m. near the Venice Beach boardwalk will feature music, games and giveaways of the new bars, which come in five flavors: Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake, PB Pretzel and Caramel Blondie. Each 2.5-ounce bar packs ice cream with chunks and swirls, coated in chocolate and cookie pieces.
The multipacks will sell for $5.99 to $7.49 starting in January, with single Cookie Dough bars arriving at convenience stores in spring for $3.99. The company plans additional free samples at more than 150 scoop shops across the country on Dec. 17, distributing over 20,000 bars in total.
The launch revives a format Ben & Jerry’s last offered years ago, when flavors like Cherry Garcia appeared briefly as bars before disappearing from shelves.
