BagelFest Expands to Los Angeles With April Event

Programming is expected to include tastings, panel discussions, live demonstrations and judged competitions in categories.

BagelFest, a New York-based food festival centered on bagels and bagel makers, is expanding to Los Angeles with a two-day event in April.

The inaugural BagelFest West is scheduled for April 11–12 at the Audrey Irmas Pavilion in Koreatown, in partnership with the Jewish Food Lab at Wilshire Boulevard Temple. Organizers say they expect between 800 and 1,000 attendees and about 30 exhibitors, including bagel shops, bakers and related food brands.

The event will begin with an industry mixer April 11 at Wilshire Boulevard Temple. The following day will feature two sessions: a morning trade-only gathering for chefs, buyers and food industry professionals, and an afternoon public session open to ticket holders.

Programming is expected to include tastings, panel discussions, live demonstrations and judged competitions in categories such as best bagel, best sandwich and best schmear. Attendees will be able to vote alongside a panel of food industry judges, according to organizers.

Tickets for the public session start at $65, according to the event website.
