Two people were injured in a shooting Sunday night following a large fight on the Santa Monica Pier, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 9 p.m. to reports of gunfire at the popular waterfront landmark in Santa Monica.
Preliminary information indicates a large altercation involving multiple individuals occurred before shots were fired, authorities said.
Two people suffered what police described as non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers at the scene provided initial medical aid before the victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators secured the area of the pier while gathering information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Portions of the pier may be temporarily restricted as the investigation continues.
Police said the incident remains under investigation and additional details will be released as they become available.
