The incoming tenant is a Canada-based dessert chain, offering customizable desserts.
Two dining establishments along Main Street in Santa Monica have recently closed, marking continued turnover in the city’s retail and restaurant corridor.
Holey Grail Donuts has shuttered its location, with signage posted at the storefront indicating that La Diperie plans to open there in the future.
Holey Grail, which originated in Hawaii, built its brand around made-to-order taro-based donuts and emphasized sustainability and locally sourced ingredients. The company began as a small operation in Kauai before expanding to mainland locations, including Santa Monica.
The incoming tenant, La Diperie, is a Canada-based dessert chain founded in Montreal in 2014. The company offers customizable desserts, including dipped ice cream, cookies and other sweets with a variety of coatings and toppings, and has expanded to dozens of locations across Canada as it enters the U.S. market.
A timeline for the new business opening has not been announced.
Separately, Samosa House has also closed its Main Street location. The restaurant had been part of a family-owned business operating in the Los Angeles area since 1979, known for vegetarian Indian cuisine and casual dining.
It was not immediately clear whether the Samosa House closure is temporary or permanent, and no replacement tenant has been announced for that space.
