Organizers said the festival aims to showcase work that pushes the boundaries of both poetry and cinema.

The fifth annual International Poetry Film Festival will return to Los Angeles on April 24–25, presenting 64 poem-based films from around the world at Beyond Baroque’s Wanda Coleman Theater.

The festival opens Friday evening with a program celebrating past contributors from the Los Angeles area. The event will include a moderated discussion on adapting poetry to film, featuring poets Mylo Lam and Rich Ferguson in conversation with filmmaker Vicki Syal. Organizers said the opening night will also revisit past festival selections and debut a curated slate of short poetry films marking the event’s fifth year.

The official selection will be screened Saturday, with programming running from late morning through the afternoon. The lineup spans animation, documentary, experimental and narrative works, highlighting filmmakers and poets from countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Festival director Lynn Holley curated the program in collaboration with Beyond Baroque. Organizers said the festival aims to showcase work that pushes the boundaries of both poetry and cinema.

Saturday’s schedule begins with an animation block at 11:30 a.m., followed by documentary films at 12:15 p.m. Two experimental sections will run at 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m., with the event concluding with a narrative program beginning at 4:45 p.m.
