Rotary District 5280 to Donate $300K to Rebuild Lowe Family YMCA

Rotary District 5280 will present a $300,000 check to the Lowe Family YMCA on Wednesday, marking another significant contribution toward rebuilding the longtime community center destroyed in the wildfires.

The donation will be presented at 5 p.m. at the YMCA’s temporary location at 821 Via de la Paz. The funds will support the organization’s $25 million capital campaign to construct two new resilient campuses in Pacific Palisades.

The Lowe Family YMCA, which has served the Palisades and Malibu area since the 1960s, was destroyed in the Palisades Fire. Since the fire, the YMCA has continued providing emergency childcare, case management, and trauma-informed care from nearby sites.

The $300,000 gift is one of the largest local donations to the rebuilding effort. It follows a $1 million contribution from Bank of America announced earlier this year.

Jim Kirtley, executive director of the Lowe Family YMCA, and Victor Dominguez, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, are scheduled to speak at the event. Los Angeles City Councilwoman Traci Park and Rotary District 5280 leadership are also expected to attend.

In recognition of the donation, Rotary District 5280 will receive permanent recognition at the rebuilt facility.
