Annenberg Beach House Announces Summer Programming

Some scheduled events include a World Cup Fun & Watch Party, a PRIDE Sunset Swim for those 18 and older, and a series of Sunset Picnics.

The Annenberg Community Beach House will launch its summer season in June with a series of public events, including live music, a cardboard boat regatta and pool activities.

The programming begins Saturday, June 6, with “Ocean of Sound,” a free 18-and-older listening event presented by internet radio station dublab from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The 14th annual Cardboard Yacht Regatta is set for Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two-person teams will race boats made of cardboard and duct tape across the historic pool. Spectators may attend free, while participants must pre-register for a $20 team fee.

The Beach House’s heated pool will open for daily public swimming on Sunday, June 14, and remain open through Labor Day on Sept. 7. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Other scheduled events include a World Cup Fun & Watch Party on Thursday, June 25, a PRIDE Sunset Swim on Friday, June 26 for those 18 and older, and a series of Sunset Picnics on June 18, July 16 and Aug. 13. The summer lineup also features multiple Sunset Swims in July and August for ages 18 and older, Queer Surf’s Art Splash event on July 26, and a Community Picnic on July 30.

New this summer is the Sand & Sea Room offering crafts and games before the picnics. The facility will also host a pop-up library, recreation classes and youth camps.

The Annenberg Community Beach House is located along Pacific Coast Highway on the site of the former Marion Davies estate and includes a pool, playground, splash pad and courtyard.
