Overnight Lane Closures, Parking Bans on State Route 2 Through June 13

Caltrans has scheduled overnight lane closures and 24-hour parking restrictions along State Route 2 in West Los Angeles, Hollywood and Echo Park as part of a major multimodal pavement rehabilitation project.

The work, focused on curb, gutter, sidewalk improvements and bus pad replacements, will occur primarily between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday, with some variations. Parking restrictions will be in effect 24 hours a day from Sunday, June 7, through Saturday, June 13.

Bus pad work on Santa Monica Boulevard
On Saturday, June 6, starting at 9 p.m., westbound Santa Monica Boulevard near Westgate Avenue and eastbound Santa Monica Boulevard near Stoner Avenue will each be reduced to one lane through 11 a.m. Sunday, June 7. No parking will be permitted in either direction where the bus pads are being replaced.

Segment A (West Los Angeles)
From Sunday, June 7, through Friday, June 12:

  • Up to one lane in each direction of Santa Monica Boulevard will close nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Cotner Avenue and Federal Avenue.
  • No parking in either direction between Cotner and Federal avenues.

Segment B (Hollywood)
From Sunday, June 7, through Friday, June 12:

  • Up to two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound of Santa Monica Boulevard will close nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between North Oxford Avenue and North Van Ness Avenue.
  • No parking in either direction between those avenues.

Segment C (Echo Park)
From Sunday, June 7, through Friday, June 12:

  • Up to two lanes in each direction of Glendale Boulevard will close nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Branden Street and Allesandro Street.
  • Up to one lane in each direction will close daytime from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the same area.
  • No parking in either direction between Branden and Allesandro streets.

Driveways to businesses will remain accessible. Signs will be posted in advance of all parking restrictions. Motorists should expect shoulder work and reduced lanes in both directions.

The $70.2 million project covers State Route 2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to the route’s terminus in Echo Park. It includes three segments:

  • Segment A: Santa Monica Boulevard from Centinela Avenue to Interstate 405 (1.4 miles).
  • Segment B: Santa Monica Boulevard from La Brea Avenue to U.S. 101 (2.1 miles).
  • Segment C: Alvarado Street/Glendale Boulevard from the northbound U.S. 101 ramps to the northbound SR-2 terminus (1.5 miles).

Upon completion, the project is expected to extend pavement life and improve safety along the corridor.
