Heavily traveled stretches of the 405 will see lane and ramp reductions ahead of a July 4 holiday construction pause.

Westside motorists navigating the Sepulveda Pass should expect significant delays next week as transportation crews implement a series of lane and ramp closures for a major freeway rehabilitation project, Caltrans officials announced.

The construction schedule, which includes K-rail installation and surveying work along Interstate 405, will run nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Monday, June 29, and concluding Thursday morning, July 2. To accommodate the July 4 holiday weekend and comply with a regional World Cup construction moratorium, no closures will take place on Thursday or Friday nights.

To ensure crew safety, speed limits will be reduced to 55 mph across select active paving zones. Drivers traveling through the corridor can expect intermittent disruptions along the following routes:

Northbound I-405 Impacts:

  • Up to two lanes of northbound 1-405 are closed between Sepulveda Boulevard and Victory Boulevard
  • Up to one lane of northbound 1-405 is closed from Wilshire Boulevard to Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive
  • Northbound 1-405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive closed
  • Up to one lane of northbound 1-405 is closed between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard
  • Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp to northbound 1-405 closed
  • Burbank Boulevard on-ramp to northbound 1-405 closed

Southbound I-405 Impacts:

  • Up to one lane of southbound 1-405 is closed between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Wilshire Boulevard
