Venice Eco Fest

Saturday June 28, 10am-7pm, free, Windward Avenue and Ocean Front Walk, Venice. Earthdayla.org.

This new tradition combines a festival of music and art with environmental exhibits and showcases. Speakers on the eco-conscious side include LA City Council member Bill Rosendahl and Ed Begley Jr. For entertainment the lineup includes Superbroke Brass & Tin & Strings Marching Band Ensemble, Stephen Longfellow Fiske and Band, Kathy Leonardo, The Luminaries, Preeta and the PeaceMakers, and dance presentations from local schools.

Celebrate America

June 28, 6-9:30pm, free, John Adams Middle School

2425 16th St.Santa Monica’s early-bird Independence Day celebration moves to the athletic field at John Adams while SMC’s Corsair Field is being renovated. Have a picnic dinner while being entertained by the music of Chris Mulkey and Delux and the Santa Monica College Jazz Band, and at dusk, by Pyro Spectacular’s fireworks. These are the only fireworks you’ll see in Santa Monica, so enjoy and be safe for the holidays.
