Westside Kickers Help UCLA Win:

Two Westside kickers were instrumental in UCLA’s opening 27-24 overtime football victory over Tennessee in the Rose Bowl Monday night.

Kai Horvath, who attended Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks but lives in Pacific Palisades, made field goals of 41 and 42 yards, the second providing the winning points.

Jimmy Rotstein, who played at Brentwood, began his second year as the Bruins’ kickoff man. He kicked off more than 60 times last season and held onto his job despite strong competition.

“There are a lot of kickers trying for that position,” said Brentwood football coach Patrick Brown. “But Jimmy stuck it out and for that I admire him.”

After beginning at UCLA a year ago, Rotstein came back to Brentwood to provide help to the Eagles’ new kickers.
