VTBS Opens New Offices:

A Santa Monica architecture firm with international projects opened its new offices in the formerly industrial neighborhood of Berkeley Street between Colorado Avenue and Olympic Boulevard in a celebration that attracted hundreds on Thursday, September 18. Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh, AIA (VTBS Architects), outgrew their offices overlooking the Third Street Promenade and moved to the former home of Rainbow Records, where the firm now designs buildings where vinyl platters once were pressed.

Founding principal Johannes Van Tilburg welcomed guests and Mayor Pro Tem Richard Bloom read a City proclamation congratulating the firm on its contributions to Santa Monica.

Among the firm’s local projects are the mixed-use Janss Court on the Third Street Promenade and mixed-use structures on 4th and 5th Streets. It is currently pursuing projects in Scotland and Brazil.

The new headquarters offices are home to most of the nearly 100 persons who work for the company, which also has offices in San Francisco and Denver.
