SMPD Seeks Your Help

Santa Monica Police Detectives need your continued help to solve the beating death of Preston Brumfield, a resident of the Pico Neighborhood.

On May 11, 2008, officers responded to a report of an unconscious man lying on the sidewalk in the 1900 block of 20th street. The victim was immediately transported to an area hospital and succumbed to his injuries on May 16, 2008. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office declared the death a homicide.

With the assistance of witnesses, detectives are releasing composite drawings of subjects who were seen in the area at the time of Preston Brumfield’s death and may be involved in the murder. The three subjects depicted are wanted for questioning at this time.
