Lurking.Tuesday. March 26, 12:09 a.m. An officer of The Santa Monica Police Department was patrolling the 2000 block of 21st Street when he observed a suspicious man lurking in an alley. The officer approached the suspicious man, who suddenly ran away. Other officers assisted, and found the man lurking again, this time in a nearby driveway. Officers discovered two things at this point. Firstly, that the suspicious man was on parole, and secondly, that he had a car that was parked in the aforementioned alley. The officers then discovered the car, discovered the man’s girlfriend in the car, and then discovered a small quantity of tar heroin, over $800 in US currency, a couple of empty small zip-lock baggies, and a glass pipe. Both parties were arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was also booked for violation of parole. It’s An Emergency!Tuesday, March 24, 12:34 a.m. Officers went to the emergency room at St. Johns Hospital at the 1300 block of 22nd Street at the above time, not because they felt ill, but because a man was causing a disturbance. It appears that the man had been waiting, for what was in his opinion, too long of a duration, to see a doctor. This man had, as a result of his perception of time, become upset, and had threatened that he was going to go and get a gun (to shoot the doctor?). The officers approached the man, but he apparently did not approve of this either, and decided to fight the officers while they were attempting to detain him. The officers won that battle, and handcuffed him before placing him under arrest. He was booked for criminal threats and resisting arrest. Don’t Call a Doctor, Don’t Call a Priest, Don’t Call My Mother, Call The Police!Thursday, March 26, 10:00 a.m. Step Up On Second is a facility located at the 1300 block of 2nd Street that assists individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in developing opportunities to reintegrate into the community. One person, however, had been suspended from the facility but had returned, at the time and date above, and had been speaking with an employee when he “poked” said employee in the chest with one of his fingers. Officers were called, and with the help of the employee, they located the “poker” in the 1500 block of 5th Street. The employee desired that the “poking” man be arrested because of his threatening behavior (which included poking). He was, and later booked for assault and battery, violation of probation, and an outstanding warrant.
