Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk” stormed to a $50.5 million opening weekend to capture first place at the North American box office this weekend, according to estimates provided Sunday by the industry tracking group comScore.

The World War II epic starring Tom Hardy and Harry Styles opened in IMAX, 70mm, 35mm and standard digital formats.
