Firefighters from the Santa Monica Fire Department participated in a Fill the Boot fundraising campaign which benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), an organization dedicated to finding a cure for muscular dystrophy, ALS, as well as other related diseases. The Santa Monica Firefighters volunteered their time on August 27th, 28th, and 29th by Filling the Boot on for MDA near Santa Monica Blvd. on the 3rd Street Promenade.

In 2008, the Santa Monica Firefighters collected $6,663.00 one boot at a time. This year, they went above and beyond to exceed that number and raised a total of $7,828.68! The Firefighters proceeds benefit MDA’s programs and services including clinics, summer camps and funding scientific research.
