NWS Warns of Gusts up to 70 Mph in Mountain and Canyon Areas Through the Weekend.

Strong Santa Ana winds are sweeping back into Southern California, prompting the National Weather Service to issue high wind warnings and advisories across multiple regions as forecasters warn of potentially hazardous conditions through the weekend.

While offshore winds are expected to remain in the forecast into Thursday or Friday of next week, meteorologists said the most intense portion of the event is likely to occur over the next two days. High wind warnings are in effect for parts of the region through 1:00 p.m. Sunday, as the wind event continues to strengthen.

In Los Angeles County, the National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for areas including the San Gabriel Mountains and the State Route 14 corridor, where wind gusts could reach 70 miles per hour. Forecasters warned that such conditions could result in downed trees, power outages, and hazardous travel, particularly in mountain and canyon areas.

Wind Advisory is also in effect for several lower-elevation communities, including the Santa Clarita Valley, the Malibu coast, Pacific Palisades, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, parts of the eastern Santa Monica Mountains, and portions of the western San Fernando Valley. In those areas, sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are expected, with gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour, especially in hillside neighborhoods.

The National Weather Service urged residents to secure loose outdoor items, remain cautious during travel, and stay alert for falling debris or power outages. Officials also noted that the strongest winds are expected in elevated terrain and along exposed ridgelines.
