Malibu Canyon Road Closed After Rockslide: Seek Alternate Routes

Closure Is Expected to Last at Least Until Monday Afternoon

Malibu Canyon Road has been closed due to a large rockslide from Pacific Coast Highway to Piuma Road. This closure was announced on Sunday around 10:00 a.m. by the Lost Hills Sheriffs Station and Caltrans District 7.

The rockslide is located close to the tunnel on Malibu Canyon Road and Caltrans has given an estimate that the road will be reopened by Monday, April 15 at 3:00 p.m.

Motorists who need to travel from the Malibu and Santa Monica area should give themselves extra time and find an appropriate alternative route until the rockslide is cleared and the authorities reopen the road.

Because of the rainy weather and the unpredictable nature of rock slides, people in the area who need to use the road may want to check and make sure the road has reopened before attempting to drive through tomorrow.
