Spring Sports Roundup:

St. Monica Gets First Victory

The St. Monica baseball team broke into the victory column with a 13-3 win over Grace Brethren.

The Mariners began the season with losses in four other games. They lost to Hawthorne 8-6, to Beverly Hills 15-5, to Channel Islands 13-3 and to St. Paul 13-1.

             

Malibu Has Win

Also in baseball, Malibu defeated Nordhoff, 13-1.

             

Local Softball Teams Rack Up Losses

In softball, Santa Monica High lost a doubleheader to West Torrance, 4-1 and 3-1. The Vikings’ record became 3-4.

The New Roads softball team was edged by Providence, 1-0.

The Malibu softball team was the victim of a no-hitter in a 16-0 loss to Narbonne.

 

Culver City Off to Strong Start

Culver City High won the St. Monica Tournament for the second straight year. The Culver City softball team is off to a 6-0 start, including a 19-2 victory over University.

             

Other Sports

In swimming, the Crossroads boys lost to Viewpoint, 116-43 and the girls lost, 112-56.

In volleyball, the Brentwood boys team is ranked No. 3 in CIF Division 4.

In tennis, the Brentwood boys team is ranked No. 1 in Division 4.
