Beyond Therapy to Open at the Ruskin:

Beyond Therapy, Christopher Durang’s high-octane classic, follows the world premiere of Caterpillar Soup, the one-person show whose six-month run just ended, and the 18 week run of Capture Now, another one-person show, at The Ruskin Group Theater.

First produced 20 years ago, Beyond Therapy received universally good reviews.

“We are so proud of the amazing success of our touching and very personal one-person shows, and now we are eager to move back into the realm of a larger-cast, high-energy play,” said Mike Myers, director of Beyond Therapy and Ruskin’s managing director.

Beyond Therapy tells the story of Bruce and Prudence, rwo neurorics in therapy, and their search for love, and ranges through such subjects as the cult of therapy, dating, pop culture, casual sex and relationships.

Actors in the double-cast show are Matt Barron, Rebecca Crandall, Fred Deni, Callalilly Finglas, Ryan Keiffner, Aaron Michael Lodge, Angelo Loukas, Tim Murphy, Val Norton, Jen Palais, Kara Roselini and Kolby Runager.

The Ruskin Group Theatre, founded in 2002, has not only produced several critically acclaimed shows, it has done extensive outreach, teaching and performing in correctional facilities, boys’ homes, nursing homes and more throughout Southern California. In addition, the theater is gaining a reputation for its monthly “Café Plays” (see related story, this issue).

The production will run from May 13 through June 25 at Ruskin Group Theatre, 3000 Airport Drive at Santa Monica Airport. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 5 p.m. Sundays. There will be no performances Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29.Tickets for Beyond Therapy are $20 general and $15 for students and senior citizens.
