Posie Carpenter Names SM-UCLA CAO:

UCLA Healthcare has announced the appointment of Posie Carpenter as chief administrative officer at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center.

Most recently, Carpenter was director of nursing at the 337-bed medical center, which is part of UCLA Healthcare’s primary-care network.

Carpenter came to Santa Monica-UCLA last year from the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, where she was director of surgical services. Prior to that, she was executive director of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

“I’m thrilled to be taking on this challenge at a very exciting time in Santa Monica-UCLA’s long and illustrious history,” said Carpenter. “We are about to begin our much-anticipated partnership with Orthopaedic Hospital and are making excellent progress with our rebuilding project. Both developments will be extremely beneficial to the Westside community and beyond.”

Carpenter has her own history with UCLA Healthcare. From 1989 to 1998, she held several managerial and staff positions at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood.A Westchester resident, she holds dual master’s degrees in nursing and public health from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Georgetown University.
