31st Annual SM Gems Celebration Is Feb 18:

On Saturday, February 18, the Santa Monica Gems will host the 31st Annual “A Black Experience,” which honors outstanding African Americans in Santa Monica.

Comedian Lewis Dix will emcee the event.

Former mayor Nathaniel Trives is chairperson of the 2006 “A Black Experience,” and Velma Johnson is President of the Santa Monica Gems.

It will be held at John Adams Middle School Auditorium, 2425 16th Street, in Santa Monica, at 7:30 p.m. Donation, $10.
