If it’s March, it must be baseball season.The Santa Monica Little League held its opening ceremonies Saturday, the Dodgers are in spring training and the high schools begin play this week.The first major event is the Southern California/Royal Tournament. Santa Monica High’s defending Ocean League champions are among the many participants.Santa Monica has a game scheduled Friday and will play at Malibu in a tournament game Saturday.Venice will play in the El Segundo Tournament Friday and will have a tournament game Saturday against Bishop Montgomery.Before playing Santa Monica, Malibu will play at L.A. Baptist Friday. Crossroads and New Roads are co-hosting a tournament. Crossroads will play Viewpoint Friday and will have a tournament game against New Roads at Clover Park Tuesday.New Roads’ second game of the season will be against Buckley on March 9 at West Los Angeles College.Brentwood opened against Windward Tuesday and will play at Buckley Tuesday. Brentwood will have a home game against Calvary Chapel February 11 and another against New Roads February 14.Palisades’ opener is scheduled Friday against Notre Dame Academy. The Dolphins will then play Saturday at Glendale and Monday at Cleveland.St. Monica is also in the Southern California Tournament and will play at St. Paul on March 13 and be home against St. Paul on March 15 in league games. Girls’ SoftballFollowing an opening game against Monrovia the St. Monica softball team will participate in its own tournament beginning Friday.Crossroads is scheduled to host Notre Dame Academy today at Clover Park and will play Brentwood on March 15, also at Clover Park.The Santa Monica High and New Roads schedules weren’t available at press time.Brentwood opened against Golden Valley and will host Oakwood March 3 and Providence March 9.Malibu opened against Viewpoint and will be home March 3 against Channel Islands and March 4 against Campbell Hall.Palisades has played Narbonne and will be at Washington today, at Garfield on Friday and at North Hollywood on March 6.Venice has played Marshall and will play at Granada Hills March 6 and at the Lincoln Softball Classic at Eagle Rock Park March 11 against Poly. Venice then will host St. Monica March on 15.
