Man Shot, Killed on Pico:

A 22-year-old Santa Monica man, Miguel Martin, was shot and killed on Pico Boulevard Wednesday evening, December 27, in what police are calling a gang-related incident. No arrests have been made.

Santa Monica Police responded at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday to the 2300 block of Pico Boulevard regarding calls of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located Martin, who had been shot in the upper torso. Paramedics from the Santa Monica Fire Department transported Martin to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Police said that according to statements received from witnesses: Martin and two other companions were walking along Pico Boulevard when a car drove alongside them. One of the persons in the car began to yell gang-related comments. Martin and his companions ran away from the vehicle. As they were running, several gunshots were fired.

The shooting suspect, who was a passenger in the car, is described as a male Hispanic, 20-30 years of age, heavy set and clean-shaven. The driver of the car is described only as a male Hispanic. The suspect vehicle is described as an 80’s or 90’s Honda Accord, black, 4-door.
