Last Saturday, the USA’s Women’s Team placed third at the World Cup Soccer Tournament in China. Meanwhile, in Santa Monica, the fall soccer season is full speed ahead. In one Girls Under 12 game at Clover Field, the Blue Monsters (in pink, coached by John Lamb and Matt Pringle) give a post game salute to their opponents, the Flaming Lollipops (coached by Sammy Romo and Rich Gross), who came from behind to win the game 4-2 on Ariana Lomeli’s four unanswered goals in the second half. Both teams belong to the Santa Monica American Youth Soccer Organization whose GU12 Division alone includes approximately 150 players. photo by Dave Quick
