April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, and Project Nightlight is offering volunteer opportunities for adults, teens, and children to work in programs based on film, fashion, music, and sports. Volunteers are only required to have a willingness to learn and have fun with kids., 310.991.1852.

Baby2Baby is raising money to provide car seats for needy families. Donations will be accepted at Booth 734, located at the Baby Celebration LA, April 12-13 at the LA Convention Center, or online at baby2baby.org.

Santa Monica Citywide Reads has gone online with a blog, santamonicacitywidereads.blogspot.com. From April 12-May 17, Santa Monica residents are encouraged to read The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch and discuss the book through community groups as well as through the blog. Copies of the book can be obtained through bookcrossing.com.
