News from Broadway Gym:

Nine gymnasts from Broadway Gymnastics Boys Team qualified and competed at Region 1 Championships in Reno, Nevada April 3-6. Region 1 is comprised of California, Arizona, Hawaii, and Nevada.

Douglas Rosman of Santa Monica and Douglas Johnson of LA qualified to USA Gymnastics National Championships as Level 10 Athletes. This will be Rosman’s third and Johnson’s fifth time competing at this annual competition. Nationals will be held in Battle Creek, Michigan May 8-11.

Johnson also qualified for the 2008 Region 1 Select Team, which is an elite group comprised of the top 30 gymnasts throughout the region. USA Gymnastics will offer these athletes high-level training and competition experience.

Richard Chin of Santa Monica, Broadway’s Level 8 Gymnast, qualified to the event finals with a score of 11.65 on High Bar.

Daniel Yoon, Broadway’s Level 5 Gymnast and All-Star Team Member, won medals in all six events and brought home the Silver medal All-Around Championship award.

Additional awards from Broadway were won by Aron Kobayashi-Ritch, Luke Goldstein, Thomas Chin (Santa Monica), Nathan Szeto, and Bryan de los Santos.

Michael and Mary Cates, owners of Broadway Gymnastics, accompanied the team to Reno and were elated with the boys’ successes. Michael Cates stated, “Broadway is always proud of its quality gymnasts.”
