Palisades Loses To University:

Since nationally prominent Westchester and Fairfax are expected to dominate the Western League boys basketball race the battle for third place is important.

The team that finishes third is likely to receive a playoff berth. Two strong candidates, Palisades and University, met in a late January game and University was the winner, 76-66 despite 25 points by the Dolphins’ Aaron Fitts.

The loss left Palisades with a 2-1 league record. The Dolphins have defeated Venice and LACES.

In a girls game LACES overcame a 10-point second half deficit to hand Palisades a 53-46 overtime loss.

New Elections Model Passes State Assembly: Traditional Polling Places to be Replaced by Convenient Vote Centers

Legislation authored by Senator Ben Allen (D – Santa Monica) that will transform the way elections are conducted in California passed the state Assembly today on a vote of 42 – 28.

“Our current system of limiting voters to one polling location on a single day has failed. It is time to implement a new voting model that allows people to vote conveniently, close to where they work, shop and congregate,” Senator Allen said.
