Samohi Wins Softball Playoff Opener:

The Santa Monica High softball team was scheduled to play at Bishop Montgomery High in Torrance on Tuesday. May 26 at 3:15 in the second round of the CIF playoffs.

Coach Debbie Skaggs’ Ocean League champions won their first round game, 4-0 over South Torrance on Thursday, May 21 at Samohi.

Junior Celisha Walker pitched a two-hitter and drove in a pair of runs with a third inning double.

Santa Monica, the No. 3 seed in the playoffs, has a 23-6 record. Bishop Montgomery, which is 14-16 overall, won its first round game at Buena, 1-0.

Although Samohi has the better record it must travel because it has had a home playoff game and Bishop Montgomery hasn’t.
