The Jazz Scene:

The first of four concerts in the 4th annual free Jazz on the Lawn series at City Hall, sponsored by the City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division, kicked-off on Sunday, August 8th. Upright Cabaret, produced and emceed by Shane Scheel and Chris Issacson, brings some of the best vocalists of Hollywood and Broadway back to the Los Angeles area. (top left) Tony Nominee Valarie Pettiford closed the show. Last seen on Broadway in Fosse, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award, she has many other Broadway and national tour credits, as well as television and film work. (top right) Thea Brooks, actor/singer/dancer, who is on the first national tour of “Dirty Dancing,” performed a duet with Steve Mazurek.
