J. Lloyd Jacobs: January 21, 1921 – September 12, 2009:

J. Lloyd Jacobs Sr.,88, a long-time business owner in Santa Monica and Venice, was one of nine children born to Eva and Michael Jacobs in Cleveland, Ohio. Lloyd, and Lucy (deceased 2004), his wife of 55 years, were 46 year residents of Santa Monica and St. Monica’s Catholic Church.He was also an active member of St. Anne’s Melkite Church of El Segundo. Lloyd served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Santa Monica Kiwanis Club, the Santa Monica Elks, American Legion Post 283, and the Santa Monica YMCA’s “Y’s-men.”His son Raymond preceded him in death in 2003. Lloyd is survived by his brother, Michael Jacobs Jr of Cleveland. He is also survived by his three children’s families : Lloyd (Bud) Jr and Cathe Jacobs;Edward and Debbie Jacobs, Bill and Barbara Jacobs Ledbetter. Lloyd was the loving grandfather (Ghido) of Erica Jacobs Green, Megan Jacobs Araujo, Jack and Elizabeth Jacobs,and Lucy and Aurora Ledbetter. He also had two great-grandchildren: Rebecca and Miles Green. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church; 725 California Avenue, Santa Monica 90403. A rosary will be held at the church on Friday (9-25) evening at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Monica’s Catholic Church earmarked for Holy Cross Sister Parish in Nairobi, Kenya.

This will be a closing ceremony for one of the most celebrated international health campaigns.
