Alert: Police Blotter:

SHE WAS INTOXICATED

Thursday, November 5, 1:31 a.m. Officers, who were patrolling the area of Hill and Main Street, noticed a Toyota RAV 4 that was speeding so they followed the RAV 4 and stopped it on Main Street. They approached the vehicle and spoke with the young woman who was behind the wheel. After doing this the officers suspected that this young woman (in a RAV 4, at 1:31 in the morning) was possibly intoxicated, so they questioned her further (Where have you been? What’s your date of birth again? What is the average speed of a migrating swallow?), and concluded from this questioning, that she was in fact, intoxicated. This 22-year-old Latino female was arrested for DUI.

VACANT MINDS IN VACANT HOUSE

Friday, November 6, 3:14 p.m. Officers received a report of a burglary in progress at an address in the 400 block of 21st Place, and so went there to investigate. When they arrived they noticed that the house in question was for sale, and also noticed a suspect (there would eventually be two suspects in this case) inside the house. The suspect told the cops that his uncle had bought the house and was in the process of “quick deeding” it to him (a tale like that may immediately explain why this guy was a suspect!). The officers sought the truth of the matter by means of police techniques, and training, and discovered that the real owner of the house had stated that nobody had purchased the house at that time (it has been a slow market of late), and also that nobody should be inside the house at that time. The cops then learned from the real estate company that someone had given them a fraudulent check for the purchase of the house. The cops were sold on the fact that the two guys were lying and so arrested one of them, a male black, aged 21, of Sherman Oaks for burglary, and his buddy, a male black, aged 48, of Santa Monica on fraud related charges.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Saturday, November 7, 2:24 a.m. Officers went to the 1000 block of Marine Street in order to sort out a domestic violence report involving one man and one woman. When they arrived, the officers spoke with the man, and also with the woman. They learned that the two had been involved in an argument that had mutated from a dispute involving the intellect (or lack of therein?), to one involving the fists. The woman told the cops that the man had hit her many times with a closed fist (punched). She also told them about how he had grabbed her cell phone and thrown it while she was attempting to call the police. Officers had heard enough, and arrested this man, a male black, aged 60, for assault and battery, and causing damage to a wireless device whilst the user was attempting to call the police.
