Samohi’s Williams Goes Home from Hospital:

After being hospitalized for three months, Cody Williams has gone home.

Williams, the Santa Monica High football player who was injured in the fourth quarter of the season-opening game against Leuzinger, left Childrens Hospital Los Angeles on Friday and was greeted at home by many of his Samohi friends.

Doctors won’t know the extent of his recovery from a cervical spine injury for several months. It could be as many as nine months before they’ll know what can be expected.

Willians was hurt as Leuzinger was attempting a conversion.

While hospitalized, Williams was visited by Samohi coach Travis Clark, who said the number 14 will be retired in Williams’ honor wherever Clark coaches for the rest of his career.

Williams also was visited by USC coach Pete Carroll.Clark is hopeful that Williams will be able to participate in the coin toss prior to the opening game of next season.
