Not only has the Santa Monica High boys basketball team qualified for the CIF Division 1A semi-finals it has earned the advantage of playing near home instead of traveling.
Samohi’s game Friday night against Colony High of Ontario will be played at Santa Monica College beginning at 7 p.m.
Samohi went 10-0 in the Ocean League and Colony was 10-0 in the Mt. Baldy League. Colony is the No. 4 seed and Samohi is No. 8, but the Vikings eliminated No. 1 seed Chino Hills on its home court in Tuesday’s third round, 40-39.
In that game Harry Horn led Samohi with nine points and Cory Walker hsd eight.
Samohi also reached the semi-finals last season.
The two other semi-finalists, Leuzinger and Loyola, will also play Friday night.
The championship game will be played one week later.
