After playing an ambitious non-league schedule that resulted in five losses in 14 games, the Santa Monica High softball team rested during spring break.
The next task was its Ocean League schedule and that predictably has started well.
Samohi, which has won the league the last four years, routed Inglewood 20-0 and Beverly Hills, 12-0.
This week Coach Debbie Skaggs’ team will be home Thursday at 3:15 against Morningside.
Shortstop Kaile Nakao is batting .426, followed by Celisha Walker at .396 , Holly Elander at .378 and Natalie Abel at .375.
Skaggs considers the team to be one of her best in 24 years at Samohi and the goal is to win the CIF championship.
