Sri Lanka Day Celebrated in Santa Monica: Sri Lanka Brings Culture to Promenade

Thilakshi Peris leads the adult troupe of the Sapthabhumi dance troupe at the Sri Lanka Day Festival at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica on Saturday August 7.

The Sri Lanka Foundation hosted Sri Lanka Day at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica on Saturday August 7. The event featured Sri Lankan food, culture, and music. The “Perahera”, a parade known as The Pagent of Lanka took place along the promenade and featured traditional Sri Lankan dancers, drummers, masked performers, flag bearers and a theatre elephant, paying honor to an ancient parade that occurs annually in Sri Lanka.
