After running the table in the Santa Fe League and finishing 8-2 overall, the St. Monica High School football team enters the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section playoffs.
The Mariners will play Chadwick, which received an at-large invitation for the Northeast Division playoffs, on Nov. 19 at home.
In the second round, the Mariners would face High Desert League champion Bishop Union or at-large Mojave.
The Mariners are led by dual-threat senior quarterback Matthew Partyka, who is averaging 198 yards passing per game and 242 offensive yards total. Running back Sean Martinez is averaging 46 yards rushing per game.
Sophomore linebacker Mau Lauaki, who plays on both sides of the ball, anchors the Mariners defense with an average of 8.6 tackles per game.
