Samohi Boys Basketball Lose Fourth Straight: Vikings Lose at Home to Culver City

Samohi's Jeremiah Shevlin looks for an open shot against Culver City defenders during Jan. 14's home game against the Ocean League rival. The Vikings lost the game 62-54.

Santa Monica High School boys basketball team is in the midst of a four-game losing streak after dropping its Ocean League home opener to Culver City on Friday (Jan. 14) by a final score of 62-54.

Although Samohi’s sophomore guard Jordan Matthews went on scoring spurts in the second half that kept the Vikings in the game, the Centaurs dominated the middle behind inside scoring from senior center Rufus Humphrey.

The Vikings are now 6-10 overall and 0-2 in Ocean League standings. The Vikings participate in a holiday tournament in the Inland Empire on Monday before resuming league play Wednesday against Beverly Hills High School.
